 Gippsland offers employment opportunities over a diverse range of industries. Rich soil and high rainfall support established primary industries such as dairy, beef, wool and timber. More recently, boutique food and wine producers, horticulturists, and fruit and vegetable producers have contributed to the growing job market, as have the manufacturers and packagers of the region’s produce. A range of manufacturing plants operate throughout the area and the region is also a significant contributor to Victoria’s fishing industry. Tourism is continually growing in the region, and a number of services support and promote the tourist trade: major retail centres, accommodation and an airport. A great many employment opportunities exist in the professional and services sectors, including education, health services, electricity production and the oil and gas industry. |
