Transport in Great South Coast
The Great South Coast has a number of highways criss-crossing the region, with easy access to Melbourne (about two and a half hours by road) and other major centres in and around the region. Daily rail services operate, connecting the region with Melbourne and the national rail system. Buses travel regularly within the region and to Melbourne.
Helicopter and light aircraft flights are available for charter from several airfields across the region and there is a regular commercial air service between Portland and Melbourne.
