When we moved to Horsham, the boys were still young and Ruth decided not to work and to spend more quality time with them. It was a lifestyle choice we just couldn’t have afforded in Melbourne. Eight years on, Ruth has returned to work in adult learning and is enjoying it as much as she always did. My job with Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water is as challenging as ever. Work is just 5 minutes from home, which beats the old city traffic. Despite leaving Melbourne, I also still had the opportunity to complete my MBA at Deakin University. The boys are into everything, footy, swimming, cricket-you name it. Anything you can do in Melbourne, you can do here. In many ways you can achieve more in Provincial Victoria. In the big city your efforts are just a drop in the ocean. Here I’m on the board of the local hospital and also the footy club. It’s great to give something back to the community. There's nothing holding you back when you move to Provincial Victoria. |
