Case Study 3 - Bronwynne & John Clavert

“We found one of the many business opportunities that exist in Provincial Victoria and now our business is thriving.”
Bronwynne and John Calvert, Owners, Sourdough Bakery

“We were both successful city lawyers. But after spending some time living in the country and commuting to Melbourne to work, we decided that the quality of life in the country was so wonderful that we didn’t want to return to the downsides of urban life – traffic, long working hours and the feeling of being so removed from nature.

That’s when we decided to settle permanently in Provincial Victoria and set up a gourmet bakery. The local community was very supportive of our new venture and is proud of our achievements. We found one of the many business opportunities Provincial Victoria provides, and our business just keeps on expanding. We’ve opened a new shop and café in a neighbouring town, and our bread is sold all over the State.

This year we made the first wine from our vineyard. The people who fill the jobs we’ve created are all skilled and enthusiastic locals, and we’ve quickly come to know them as friends.

Business success is one thing, but the most important thing our new lifestyle has given us is the time and space for a quality family life with our kids. We love being part of a diverse and interesting local community. We also really love it when friends from the city come to visit.

Like us, they love the bush walks, the relaxed pace of life, the great restaurants and wineries and, in particular, the open space for their kids to run around freely.

We’re making it happen in Provincial Victoria. What’s stopping you?”
