About Make it Happen in Provincial Victoria marketing campaign

The Make it Happen in Provincial Victoria marketing campaign raises the awareness of Melburnians of the opportunities to live, work and invest in provincial Victoria.

The aims of the campaign are to:
· correct misconceptions of rural and regional Victoria held by Melbourne people
· encourage metropolitan residents to relocate to Provincial Victoria
· unite rural and regional Victoria for the first time under a unique and sophisticated identity.

The term "Provincial" was selected following research showing that it was a new and fresh term to describe the non-metropolitan areas of Victoria, steering away from terms with negative connotations such as "bush".

The campaign aligns with the Government target of increasing the annual rate of population growth in Provincial Victoria to 1.25% in 2006.

The attraction of businesses and people to rural and regional Victoria will stimulate economic development and prosperity for all Victorians.

The campaign includes print and television advertising, public relations, a website, a branding style guide, and a range of marketing materials.

The campaign was launched in September 2003 by the Minister for State and Regional Development, the Hon John Brumby MP.
