From Warrnambool to Warracknabeal, and everywhere in between, Provincial Victoria is a great place to live.

The locals know - which is why they live there! But many Melburnians have been unaware of the fabulous benefits of living in rural and regional Victoria:

• No traffic jams;
• Fresh air;
• Friendly communities;
• A great place to raise kids

...to name just a few.

Which is why in 2003, the Victorian Government launched the Make it Happen in Provincial Victoria campaign, in partnership with the State's 48 rural and regional councils, to raise awareness of the great opportunities to live, work and invest in Provincial Victoria.

The campaign is part of a strategy by the Victorian Government to drive sustainable growth across the State; because a strong rural/regional economy stimulates economic development and prosperity for all Victorians.

It also reveals the many benefits of life outside the city.

The campaign aims to:

• Correct misconceptions about Provincial Victoria
• Encourage city dwellers to move to Provincial Victoria
• Unite rural and regional Victoria under the banner 'Provincial Victoria'

It includes print and television advertising, public relations, a website, a branding style guide and a range of marketing materials.

Victoria's attractive culture, climate, and economy is pushing strong population growth, including in Provincial Victoria. In 2006-07 the State's regional population rose by 1.1 per cent, the third-highest growth rate of all states. Between 2001-02 and 2006-07, Victoria's regional population grew by 4.5 per cent with an average annual growth rate of 0.9 per cent.
