Which is why in 2003, the Victorian Government launched the Make it Happen in Provincial Victoria campaign, in partnership with the State's 48 rural and regional councils, to raise awareness of the great opportunities to live, work and invest in Provincial Victoria. The campaign is part of a strategy by the Victorian Government to drive sustainable growth across the State; because a strong rural/regional economy stimulates economic development and prosperity for all Victorians. More people are discovering Provincial Victoria Victoria's attractive culture, climate, and economy is pushing strong population growth, including in Provincial Victoria. In 2006-07 the State's regional population rose by 1.1 per cent, the third-highest growth rate of all states. Between 2001-02 and 2006-07, Victoria's regional population grew by 4.5 per cent with an average annual growth rate of 0.9 per cent. |
